November 30, 2007 - Lake Worth, FL- With an incredible desire to succeed, local racer Jennifer Crossman was faced with the opportunity of a lifetime. This opportunity could eventually lead Jennifer into a drivers club that is as exclusive as the billionaires club. This club is titled “NASCAR Driver”.
In early November, Jennifer had her first interview in Concord, North Carolina with Chris Lafferty, owner of Lafferty Motorsports and the #89 NASCAR Craftsman truck team. Jennifer made such an impression on this first interview that she was invited back to take part in Lafferty’s Driver Development program and the first of the two day evaluation.
Jennifer traveled back to North Carolina and spent the afternoon with Chris Lafferty where she was not only judged on marketability, communications and race knowledge but taught the fundamentals in these topics as well.
The day at the track made for a long one. Jennifer, along with her mother, Linda Crossman, and her uncle, Bob Romero, met with Chris Lafferty and his team at 7:30 in the morning at the Lafferty Performance Shop. Shortly thereafter, they left for Hickory Motor Speedway where Jennifer would spend the day turning laps in the #89 NASCAR Craftsman Truck during the driving ability, compatibility and listening test. Between laps on the track, Jennifer would be pulled into the pit for assessment, instruction and questions.
By the end of this very important and exciting day, Jennifer had made quite an impression on Chris Lafferty with her driving skills and her ability to listen and do as she was told by him. “Jennifer has many things going for her, I think she will prove to have the drive that it takes to make it in this business. With our help we may have something good here!” Chris Lafferty later added that he thought Jennifer as well as her family were very good hearted people with a hard working ethic built into their lives.
Chris Lafferty has offered a helping hand to Jennifer by accepting her as one of a select group of development drivers for Lafferty Motorsports during the 2008 race season.
Jennifer Crossman, who is 19 years old from Lake Worth, Florida, races the #54 Chevy ProTruck in the FASCAR Advanced Auto Parts touring series in Florida.
